See an Exhibition
Exhibitions are the guidestar in Clayworks’ constellation of programs. Exhibitions provide a tangible and engaging showcase for ceramic art while advancing our mission to support ceramic artists. Exhibitions extend our educational purpose and become teaching tools with which to educate the public. Quality exhibitions bring respect and interest from other arts institutions and from seasoned art collectors; they provide access and a more complete understanding of the medium of ceramics to those who view them. Rotating exhibitions encourage return visits from an arts- aware public, provide a forum for discussion and become a real intersection between artists and the public. At Baltimore Clayworks, exhibitons provide a way for established and emerging ceramic artists of the highest caliber to become associated with our institution. Not only do exhibitions provide a venue for artists to sell their work, they also provide the opportunity for those artists to develop a clientele while our institution develops an audience beyond the “makers.” Furthermore, an exhibition’s opening is a defined and publicized occasion, an important way for Clayworks to celebrate new work by ceramic artists while we convene and expand our community.
