This hands-on workshop will focus on the potters wheel as a creative tool. The focus is on exploring process and not on finished pieces. Traditional pottery forms (cups, vases, teapots, etc.) will be covered, as well as assembling and altering thrown forms. Demonstrations will include making oval pots; cutting “darts” to articulate forms and creating unique shapes through assembling. There will be emphasis on exploring the potential for a variety of surfaces and textures. The aim is to help students make pots which are more unique and personal. Participants should have some throwing experience.
