Curator states, “My interest in curating a wood fired exhibition centers on the idea that the type of wood kiln we use is a choice that artists make that affects the completion of their ideas. There are numerous types of wood kilns in use today, each satisfying specific aesthetic needs of the artist. chose a group of people who feel are doing some outstanding work, work that meshes beautifully with the artists choice of firing methodology and kiln type. want this exhibition to highlight the artists work, as well as the reasoning behind the aesthetic. Why this kiln, why this method? What are you looking for in the firing and why have you chosen this type of kiln to realize your ideas? These are questions that speak to a deeper understanding of how we think, and in extension, how our work expresses those ideas.”
