This 8-week class is a wrap-around survey of basic throwing on the potters’ wheel plus hand-building/sculpture, with lots of decorative surface techniques for both! The class is for students who have little or no experience in clay, but all are welcome. Two experienced teachers will team-up to teach each class in their respective areas of expertise–Joanne and Volker will be working side-by-side with students to provide twice the hands-on instruction. Examples of projects could include many types of handles for all kinds of cups, special glaze applications and under glaze decoration, burnishing /pit-firing, and carving - on projects as diverse as dinnerware, clay ocarinas, bird feeders and more. The instructors promise a playful, whimsical and relaxed environment where learning in clay is fun!
