Pouring Pots: Teapot Intensive

In this 8-week course we will study practical and esthetic considerations in making functional teapots. An emphasis will be placed on the planning and preparation made for a vessel before going to the wheel, and learning to assemble all of the components to make a functional pouring vessel that is easy to use and comfortable to hold. Students will explore forms in relation to handle size, placement on the vessel and various handle making techniques. Students taking this course need to have completed either Basic I or Basic II courses or their equivalent. Numerous texts and supporting material hand-outs will be referenced and available for students.
