Fusion: Thrown and Hand-built Tableware

Students in this 8-week class will work toward combining throwing and hand-building to make dynamic forms. We will explore both functional and sculptural directions working with thrown slabs, rolled slabs, coils, faceting, and sectional throwing. Course demonstrations may include casserole dishes, sectional vases, hollow wall hangings, thrown and assembled platters, and much more. We will focus on developing unity between the world of throwing and hand-building with in class discussions, slide presentations and demonstrations. Previous wheel and hand-building experience is recommended.
