In this 12-week course for intermediate level potters will refine their throwing techniques while exploring a variety of tableware service pieces. An emphasis will be placed on the planning and preparation necessary prior to sitting at the wheel while learning to craft utilitarian tableware which is balanced, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Demonstrations will address saucers, plates, pasta bowls and platters. Particular methods of forming and surface decoration will be discussed with each form. Students may choose to explore unique individual pieces or focus on designing and building service settings. This course is for Intermediate to Advanced level potters.
