The goal of this 12-week class is for participants to gain both facility and flair in clay and to learn fundamental hand-building skills: pinch, coil, soft and hard slab construction. Through a series of demonstrations, informal discussion and critique of work, each student will further develop their hand-building skills and creative voice. Some projects may involve the use of stamps, found objects and other media to enhance the sculptural surface. All forms of expression will be encouraged, including figurative, functional and abstract.
