In this 12-week class participants may explore and expand their hand-building skills to create whimsical accessories for the table, kitchen, bath and home. Students will create funky wares with a narrative or stylistic theme including: soap dishes, candlesticks, salt and pepper shakers, butter dishes, service trays and much more. Participants will use simple bisque and plaster drape/slump molds in addition to pinch, coil and slab methods to construct an array of utilitarian works. Using hand-made stamps, a variety of surface finishes with under-glaze, slips and glaze as well as some mix media resulting in creative solutions for everyday use. This course is a perfect follow up to hand-built tableware. Students should have at least a basic knowledge of clay to enroll in this course.
