Meet the Artists
Ceramic artists and their work are central to the mission and operations of Baltimore Clayworks. Artists are our curators and jurors for exhibitions, teachers, lecturers for classes; presenters in workshops and in the community arts program. Artists develop curricula as well as policy and standards. They are involved in all artistic decisions at Clayworks in Mt. Washington as well as in the community programs, exhibitions and events. Clayworks exists to promote and advance our artists - they in turn advance the organization. It is with artists’ passion and involvement in creating work and in connecting with each other and the public that we realize our mission.
About one-third of current board members and Clayworks staff are engaged full-time or part-time in artmaking. We broaden our reach through artists and their professional networks.
With the completion of the new building in 2005, we have first-rate, highly desirable studio space that should help us attract emerging talent of reputation and potential to our residency program. Our kilns and equipment are top notch, and with the addition of the wood-fire kiln, Clayworks is able to offer a wide variety of making and firing options for our resident, member and visiting artists
