Artist's Statement
With its soft and flesh-like characteristics, wet clay is the ideal medium through which to imitate the moist and yielding quality of bodily tissue. Lumps, welts and strange swellings protrude from the confines of square tiles and tidy rectangular boxes in my ceramic work, illustrating the chaos that inevitably grows from the seemingly orderly human body, and the complexity and commonality of all life forms.
