Sonya Meeker took her first class at Baltimore Clayworks in 1994 as a gift from her husband. While taking classes with Tsehai Johnson, Sonya honed her throwing skills and developed a glazing palette. With encouragement from artists in the community such as Tina Gebhart and Diana Thomas, Sonya applied for a studio in 1998 and was juried in as a Resident Artist at Baltimore Clayworks. Her precise and elegant forms invite a variety of glaze and texture applications on the surface of her pottery.
