Dr. Rayner Browne Academy
March 5-April -16, 2011

Dr. Rayner Browne Academy converted to a BCP public charter school in 2007. The school is named after the late Dr. Grafton Rayner Browne, a member of the Baltimore Chirugical Society, the Monumental City Medical Society, and the American Medical Society. The school serves 213 African-American students in grades pre-kindergarten through eight, living in the Madison/east end area of Baltimore City.

Co-Director of Community Arts, Herb Massie, worked with elementary aged youth to create definitions of home, which to these students, resulted in colorful and well-crafted constructions of row house. The unique slab constructed home, illuminate welcoming flickering lights through stained glass windows and project the audio track stories of the youth who made them.
