Baltimore Clayworks is proud to present a sampling of student work from our off-site community arts classes held at Afya Public Charter School, Dr. Rayner Browne Elementary School and Mother Seton Academy. The work represents elementary and middle school students who participated in an eight week afterschool program during the fall session taught by Community Arts teachers, Courtney Gover, Janelle Gang and Heb Massie.
Afya
Courtney Gover, community arts teacher, taught students at Afya to experiment with a variety of hand-building techniques to create mobiles, anthropomorphic containers and masks, showing their confidence in clay.
Mother Seton Academy
Community arts teacher, Janelle Gang, instructed 6th grade students at Mother Seton Academy to manipulate clay to build magnificent coil pots that reflect individuality and personal expression.
Dr. Rayner Browne Elementary School
Students at Dr. Rayner Browne Elementary School learned slab-building and pinch pot techniques from community arts teacher, Herb Massie, to create sculpted forms of animals and skateboards that thematically reflect one another and their personal interests.
