Three Wonderful Years: A Photo Retrospective of Baltimore Clayworks Mondawmin
September 2–November 4, 2006
“Baltimore Clayworks Mondawmin,” launched in July 2003 in a storefront space in the Mondawmin Mall, the use of which was generously donated to us by the mall’s then owner Rouse Company, and then by General Growth Properties when they took over management in 2004.
Our committed team of artists and staff transformed an empty commercial space in the mall into a haven of creativity where professional artists lead affordable, accessible arts programs for the community. During the three years Baltimore Clayworks Mondawmin operated, hundreds of young people, numerous community-based organizations, dozens of senior adults and many families participated in hands-on clay and arts activities at this site, and Clayworks has continually sought funding for these programs so that everyone could participate for only a nominal registration fee.
We thank the Mondawmin Mall, our generous funders, the Greater Mondawmin community, and all those who participated in our programs for your kindness and support. Though we are sad to leave our Mondawmin home, we celebrate the joy, learning and friendships that have grown at Baltimore Clayworks Mondawmin.
