Best of Both Worlds - An Introduction to Clay
This 12-week class is a wrap-around survey of basic throwing on the potters’ wheel plus hand-building/sculpture, with lots of decorative surface techniques for both! Examples of projects could include many types of handles for all kinds of cups, special glaze applications and under-glaze decoration, burnishing /pit-firing, and carving - on projects as diverse as tableware, clay boxes and more. Students will experience a playful, whimsical and relaxed environment where learning in clay is fun! This course will combine 6 weeks of hand-building and 6 weeks of potter’s wheel methods. This class is for students who have little or no experience in clay, but all are welcome.
