Wood Firing for the Adventurous Learner

This class is intended for those who have had the basics of wood firing and would like to continue to broaden their range of possibilities or refine a particular area. This class will be open to independence and experimentation of style, technique and surface possibilities. Students will be encouraged to take chances and try their hands at some of the more risky possibilities in wood firing such as side firing, tumble stacking, ash glazes, applied ash, glass or other inclusions, and saggar firing. The instructor will act as a facilitator and guide to help you find solutions on your way to creating the work that excites you. This course is for students comfortable at an Intermediate level looking to explore surface and form. Course fee includes 25 lbs. of clay and bisque firing. Students may choose to participate in any of our Community Noborigama firing dates that best fit their schedule.
