Exploring ^6 Surface and Glaze
In this 12-week class, participants will explore the nuance of making functional and decorative pots using Cone 6 oxidation glazes. In addition to refining throwing techniques through various demonstrations emphasizing the fundamentals of functional ceramics participants will gain an understanding of how to mix and apply oxidation glaze. Surface decoration will also be explored, covering use of slips, carving and glaze pattern application. The course emphasis will be to build skills and confidence with cone 6 electric kilns/glazes which can be applied in the home studio. This course is for students who have completed at least one Basic level throwing course required. Course fee includes 25 lbs. of clay and bisque firing.
