Accoutrements - Hand-Built Tableware
In this 12-week class participants will explore hand-building skills to create traditional dinner wear such as dinner plate, dessert plate, soup/cereal bowl, cup and saucer. Complimentary accessories such as pitchers, tumblers, terrines, sugar/creamer and center piece adornments such as vases will also be addressed to expand their hand-building skills. Participants will use simple bisque and plaster drape/slump molds in addition to creating press molds from found environmental and natural objects to create hand-made stamps for embellishing the clay surface. A variety of surface finishes using under-glaze, slips and reduction glaze will facilitate creative solutions for everyday use. This class is a perfect beginning course for students interested in learning how to approach hand-built tableware. Course fee includes 25 lbs. of clay and bisque firing.
