Baltimore Clayworks is proud to present Doug Casebeer leading an intensive workshop focusing on forms and surface techniques that are appropriate for firing in a wood kiln. Please note this will be a five day workshop including a wood-firing on the weekend or you may sign up for the three and a half day workshop with no share in the wood-kiln.
On Friday, Doug will demonstrate and discuss his experience with the various surface possibilities in the wood and wood salt/soda kiln. Students who are participating in the firing will have time to prepare and wad their bisque pieces in the afternoon. (please bring 20-30 pieces, about 5 cubic feet of work.)
On Saturday morning the wood kiln will be loaded and firing will begin. The firing will continue until sunrise on Sunday, with additional time for discussion and sharing of experience and ideas.
Sunday morning will be a free time to get some needed rest. In the afternoon Sunday, Doug will be demonstrating techniques for forming pieces that are intended for the wood kiln.
On Monday and into Tuesday morning while the kiln cools Doug will continue the demonstrations and discussions of form and surface.
Tuesday afternoon will be the kiln opening which will include feedback and reactions from Doug.
