In this 12-week class students will be begin by throwing forms on the potters wheel which will then be altered in a variety of ways off-wheel. Demonstrations may include square and oval forms, faceting, darting, assembling multiple components and much more. Students will be challenged to explore their ideas of personal expression using the wheel as a starting point to create either utilitarian pottery or abstract expressionistic sculpture. Techniques for surface treatment including slipping and glazing will also be demonstrated. This course is for students entering at an Intermediate or Advanced level.
