  • There can be much more than simply putting flowers in a container. Ikebana – the art of Japanese flower arrangement - is a disciplined art form in which nature and man-made object are combined to create a unique contemplative expression through a minimalist expression of color, line and shape. The ceramic vessel is central to the composition and various styles of pottery may be used in their construction. This workshop will introduce students to both the 500 year history and the evolution of this unique art form which may in turn open a new dimension and creative direction in the clay studio. Participants are asked to bring 2 ceramic vessels; vases, bottles, low bowls or pitchers are preferable. No previous flower arranging experience necessary.
