All skill levels are welcome in this 12-week exploration of the human form in clay. Students will work primarily from live models but also use their imaginations as they sculpt figures, portrait busts and body fragments. Emphasis will be placed on anatomical study and the expressive potential of gesture and pose – students should expect to have 6 weeks of live model contact. Basic hand-building skills will be taught including the use of armatures. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of surface finishing techniques including cold surface and glaze finishes. Open to all levels, previous clay experience is recommended.
